49ers Sign Offensive Weapon After Placing Center Weston Richburg on IR
By Andy Loughmiller

The San Francisco 49ers have placed Weston Richburg on injured reserve and will be without their star center for the remainder of the season. While this is certainly bad news, it did provide SF with an open roster spot.
According to ESPN's senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the 49ers have signed Jordan Matthews to a one-year deal.

Heading to San Francisco alongside Matthews is defensive back Dontae Johnson, who spent part of this season with the team before being cut, having featured in five games.
This will be Matthews' third stint with the Niners. After being released by the team prior to the beginning of the regular season, he was re-signed in October before being released for a second time a few weeks later. He should be very familiar with their playbook.
Matthews has bounced around the league during the past couple of seasons. The Patriots parted ways with the veteran receiver prior to the start of training camp in 2018 and he also had multiple spells with both the Eagles and 49ers since.
This is Jordan Matthews' third stint with the #49ers. He was originally signed to a one-year deal in the offseason but released during final roster cuts. Matthews was re-signed in October, hung around for a few weeks, then released again. Third time's the charm? https://t.co/LdgQ57k6pf

If his past is any indication, Matthews might not be around for the long haul in San Francisco. He will likely be the No. 5 receiver behind Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel, Marquise Goodwin, and Dante Pettis.
