Jauan Jennings had quite the career while at Tennessee. The wide receiver was dismissed from the program in 2017, only to be reinstated in 2018. He made himself into a legitimate draft prospect last season with 969 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Jennings could have been left out to dry, but Jeremy Pruitt gave him another chance and he is now getting a shot to shine in the NFL after being taken in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers.

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan got an absolute steal at No. 217 overall. Jennings' stock dropped because of his character concerns and after running a 4.7 40-yard dash. However, he stands 6-3 and is a physical receiver who averaged over 16 yards per catch in 2019.

The 49ers lost Emmanuel Sanders in free agency and have added Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk in the draft. Both rookies could end up receiving a ton of playing time with Deebo Samuel atop the depth chart. Of course, George Kittle remains the top target in the passing game.

Jennings being kicked off the team in 2017 hurt his reputation, but he got another chance in 2018 and made the most of it. Putting any receiver in Shanahan's system is a boost for that player's chances of success. Putting the 6-3 Jennings on the 49ers, and only using a seventh-round pick, is almost unfair to the rest of the NFL.
