5 Best Recruits Still Available Before National Signing Day
By Michael Luciano
National Signing Day is right around the corner, and several 4-star and 5-star recruits still remain without a team despite the introduction of the Early Signing Period. In the coming days, the best and brightest recruits that are still available on the recruiting trail will finally make their long-awaited college choices. Any of these five players committing to your favorite school could change the outlook of that squad for the 2020 season.
5. RB Kevontre Bradford
Bradford is a 4-star running back who is currently split between joining the champions in LSU or succeeding Jonathan Taylor at Wisconsin. At 193 pounds, Bradford will make his mark as a speed demon and receiving threat out of the backfield as opposed to plunging up the middle consistently. A dynamic playmaker with speed and excellent vision, the Texas native could see time early in Baton Rouge or in Madison.
4. DT McKinnley Jackson
Jackson is the 94th best player in the country, and he is currently split on deciding between LSU and Alabama, though the tide have a slight edge at this point. Jackson tips the scales at 327 pounds, and he'll be ready to come in and stuff the run from Day 1. Pete Golding could have a really fun time deploying Jackson early on, but he could develop into a quality player under former defensive line coach Ed Orgeron.
3. DB Avantae Williams
Williams was originally a Miami commit, but he has since backed off of that commitment amid interest from Florida and Oregon, with the Gators currently in the pole position for Williams. The nation's 55th best player, Williams might be a small safety at 5-11 and 170 pounds, but his speed and sticky hands will stick at either safety or corner. Another brutal loss for Manny Diaz and Miami.
2. OT Broderick Jones
Jones is committed to Georgia, but that hasn't stopped him from keeping his options open. The nation's 14th best player recently took an official visit to Illinois, and he would be the biggest player to ever join Lovie Smith in Champaign. The loss of offensive line coach Sam Pittman might have steered Jones away from Georgia, and it could result in a huge loss for Kirby Smart on the recruiting trail.
1. RB Zachary Evans
Evans is the top running back in the country, and we are still no closer to finding out where the No. 11 player in the nation will play next year as we were a few months ago. He was a Georgia commit, but that has gone by the wayside. He is apparently taking classes at Texas A&M, but that might not be indicative of what he plans to do. Evans could be a program changer, but no one except him seems to know what his future plans are.
