5 Most Outrageous Moments From Richie Incognito's Ridiculous Career
By Brendan Azoff
Richie Incognito has had one of the most infamous NFL careers in modern memory, with countless incidents occurring from the field to the locker room and beyond. Now that he's un-retired and currently set to play for the Oakland Raiders this year, let's take stock of his five most outrageous exploits to date.
5. Going Bananas on Mike Zimmer
Incognito was receiving calls from teams when he was a free agent in 2018, claiming he spoke with the Vikings, but head coach Mike Zimmer denied the report. This lead to a NSFW rant on Twitter directed at the coach completely out of nowhere. He later apologized.
4. Throwing Dumbbells and Getting Baker Acted
While at a gym in Florida, Incognito allegedly threw a dumbbell at a fellow gym-goer and was later arrested by the Boca Raton police department and placed under a psychiatric hold per the terms of the Baker Act. This altercation occurred after his release from the Bills, and it was later reported that the lineman was wracked with paranoia and insisted that the government was spying on him.
3. Wild Domestic Dispute at Grandma's House
According to police documents, Incognito punched a hole through a wall at his 90-year-old grandmother's home and ripped a security system control panel off what may or may not have been the same wall amid a heated dispute. He later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors which did not become public knowledge until recently despite occurring in August 2018.
2. Bullying Teammate Jonathan Martin
In 2013, Incognito's systematic harassment of Miami Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin came to light and became the talk of the NFL. Incognito and other teammates reportedly bullied Martin by spearking in a sexually suggestive manner about his sister, using homophobic slurs, and generally taunting him. Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins, and Martin opted to leave the team.
1. Threatening to Shoot Up a Funeral Home
Yes, this man threatened to open fire on staff at a funeral home after already damaging the inside of the establishment. Staff members were preparing the funeral of Incognito's father, but the lineman was apparently unsure if his old man was actually deceased. The incident led to his arrest.
