With the news of Jake Arrieta's bone spur in his throwing arm, it's likely the Phillies target a starting pitcher as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches. With that being said, here's a list of five hurlers who could help the Phillies regain their form heading towards the postseason.

1. Madison Bumgarner

Bumgarner's name has been thrown around for two seasons now as the Giants aren't any closer to contending. With the former Cy Young winner being a free agent at the end of the year, it's likely he'll be dealt. The Phillies could use a left-handed starter in the rotation, and Bumgarner fits the bill.

2. Trevor Bauer

Bauer's name has also been floated around, and the veteran could make sense for the Phillies. The team needs a reliable top of the rotation piece, and Bauer's 3.61 ERA in 132 innings pitched fits exactly what the Phillies are looking for to boost their rotation.

3. Mike Minor

The unlikeliest of the five because of the Rangers' surprise ascension in the American League, Minor has had a career resurgence this season with Texas. The Phillies were rumored to be interested in Minor before the year, and could make their move now. The lefty is 8-4 with a 2.54 ERA in 18 starts for the Rangers this season.

4. Zack Greinke

The 35-year old is an All-Star once again, and could be on the move thanks to a struggling Diamondbacks team. The Phillies could find Greinke appealing due to the two years remaining on his deal, allowing the trade to be more than just a rental. The six time All-Star is 10-3 with a 2.73 ERA this season.

5. Ken Giles

Giles could be the inexpensive bullpen piece the Phillies need to strengthen their late game pitching issues. Giles, previously traded to Houston from Philadelphia, could step right into the set-up role in front of Hector Neris, or even take over the closer role entirely. He's recorded a 1.45 ERA and has 13 saves for Toronto this year.
