5-Star Georgia OL Commit Taking Surprise Visit to Illinois
By Michael Luciano

Illinois is a program that considered last year's 6-7 season a massive step forward. Yup, that's how things have been for the program, as they've gone 15-34 in the four-year reign of Lovie Smith.
Still, they have managed to catch the eye of quite a few top recruits, including 5-star Georgia commit Broderick Jones.
The prized offensive lineman, currently the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country and No. 14 overall player, will take an official visit to Illinois this week. It certainly comes as a bit of a surprise.

Jones might be considered a Georgia commit for the time being, but he's keeping his options open.
Jones has piqued the interest of Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee, and even took an OV to check out Sam Pittman and Arkansas. Pittman was Georgia's assistant head coach last year and offensive line coach the last three years. He's been recruiting Jones for a while now.

Jones was thought to be a slam dunk to stay in-state at Georgia, but the former Chicago Bears head coach might convince him to come to the Big Ten and suit up for Illinois instead. His recruitment is most certainly something to watch leading up to National Signing Day.
