5 Tallest Players in the NBA for the 2019-20 Season
This past offseason, the NBA re-took official measurements for all its players, offering more accurate assessments of athletes' height and weight. Currently in the NBA there are 15 players standing in above 7-feet tall, while the league's shortest player, Isaiah Thomas, measures in at 5-foot-9.
Well, thanks to the data from the league's updated measurements, these five players have been evaluated as the tallest in the NBA for the 2019-20 season.
5. Bol Bol - 7 Feet, 2 Inches
Bol Bol, the son of the late 7-foot-7 NBA player Manute Bol, is an intriguing player due to his innate ability to block shots at the rim paired with an excellent 3-point shot. Becasue of his injury in college, Bol was only able to secure a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets, and hasn't played in a game yet. Nonetheless, Bol is still in the NBA, and will hopefully show why he was so highly touted to begin with.
4. Luke Kornet - 7 Feet, 2 Inches
Third-year Bulls' big man Luke Kornet is a relatively unknown NBA player. Another son of a former NBA player, Frank Kornet, Luke has basketball in his blood. Kornet is an excellent shooter from distance, shooting 3.7 three's per game in only 15.6 minutes per game and hitting 34.4% of those attempts. Kornet is not a good rebounder for his height, averaging just 5.4 per 36 minutes, despite boasting a significant size advantage in virtually every matchup.
3. Kristaps Porzingis - 7 Feet, 3 Inches
Kristaps Porzingis has been an incredibly intriguing player since his entrance to the league. His combination of height, post moves, shooting and shot blocking is a rarity in the NBA, hence the nickname "The Unicorn" given to him by Kevin Durant. He, along with teammate Luka Doncic, have led the Mavericks to the fifth seed in the tough Western Conference. Porzingis is an extremely versatile player considering his height, averaging 17.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 2.2 3's per game.
2. Boban Marjanovic - 7 Feet, 4 Inches
Boban Marjanovic is an NBA fan favorite, due to his size, personality and bromance with former teammate Tobias Harris. He has never played more than 11.7 MPG in his career, but he's incredibly efficient when on the floor, averaging 22.7 points and 16.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. However, his slow foot speed and lack of spacing ability makes him a liability to play for long stretches. Still, he presents a frustrating matchup for most big men across the league.
1. Tacko Fall - 7 Feet, 6 Inches
Tacko Fall may be every NBA fan's favorite gentle giant. His size, persona and underrated handles make him beloved by everyone. Not to mention, his standing dunks are also a thing of beauty. While Fall has not shown that he can play big minutes, he is a young player, and should work his way into the Celtics rotation as he continues to develop. For now, he'll keep honing his craft in the G-League, but if he ever becomes a regular in the NBA, there's not a player who would be looking down upon him.
