6 Most Disappointing Players of NBA Summer League So Far
The 2019 Las Vegas NBA Summer League is almost halfway done, and there are no shortages of surprises and disappointments thus far. Not every coveted pick has looked the part, while there have been some diamonds in the rough as well. Here are the six most disappointing players from the NBA Summer League.
6. Naz Reid - Minnesota Timberwolves
Reid surprisingly went undrafted this year, and agreed to play Summer League ball with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Clearly, going undrafted affected him because he hasn't played up to expectations. The forward is only averaging 9.3 points and 3 rebounds per game in Vegas.
5. Jaylen Adams - Atlanta Hawks
The St. Bonaventures star played sparingly with the Hawks last season, and would be expected to dominate Summer League this year. Instead, Adams is only scoring 11 points per game, good for fourth on the team as the Hawks sit at 0-2.
4. DeAndre Hunter - Atlanta Hawks
Speaking of the struggling Hawks, top-five pick DeAndre Hunter is playing his part in that mess, averaging only 6 points and 3 rebounds per game. The Virginia product was a -18 in 21 minutes against the Timberwolves Monday and has not looked like the early first-round pick Atlanta was hoping they had drafted.
3. Nassir Little - Portland Trail Blazers
Even though Little fell in the 2019 NBA Draft, experts expected him to be an integral part of the Trail Blazers bench. He hasn't looked the part so far, averaging 4.5 points and 0.5 assists in two games. There's time for him to turn things around, but he hasn't been very effective thus far.
2. RJ Barrett - New York Knicks
Barrett is all Knicks fans have left after a disappointing offseason, and he's not helping calm their nerves. New York is 0-2 and Barrett is only averaging 9 points per game. The Duke product is one of the few headlining acts remaining at Summer League, thanks to our biggest disappointment's absence.
1. Zion Williamson
Williamson's injury is the disappointment here. All the hype heading into the 2019 NBA Summer League was to see Zion for the first time in a Pelicans uniform. Instead, a knee injury picked up in his debut saw him miss the second half before being ruled out for the rest of Summer League play. Fans will have to wait even longer to see Zion on the court.
