7 Teams Reportedly Have Interest in DeMarcus Cousins This Offseason
By Jared Kish
There has been a lot of buzz this NBA offseason of where certain Golden State Warriors free agents are going to end up next year. With Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant being the two biggest free agents in Golden State, another Warriors player is still questioning where he might play in 2019-20.
DeMarcus Cousins may still end up back in a Warriors uniform, however if he doesn't, seven teams are reportedly interested in the big man, per Marc Stein.
Two teams that have significant cap space and are interested in the big man are the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers, though they have been linked to just about every big name on the market.
The Knicks are interested in Cousins' teammate Kevin Durant and are reportedly going to offer KD a contract come Sunday evening when free agency starts at 6:00 p.m. With that being said, if the Knicks don't land KD, they may offer Cousins a one-year deal.
The Warriors are watching over Cousins and seeing where he's drawing interest, but the best they could offer him this offseason was a one-year deal worth $6.4 million. After he gambled on taking less money with Golden State last offseason, it'd be a shock to see him repeat the same move, especially given he didn't win a ring.
Cousins suffered a partially torn quadriceps in the first round of the playoffs and didn't return till the NBA Finals. When he returned the big man was no where near 100 percent.
Though Cousins didn't perform to the best of his ability in the finals and is still recovering from injury, he is remaining open minded about where he will end up come next season.
