76ers Rumored to Explore Trading Al Horford This Summer
By Brendan Balsamo
When Al Horford signed a four-year, $109 million contract with the 76ers last summer, the idea was that it was a great signing for a Philly team on the uptick. The 2019-20 season has proven anything but that.
With the 76ers struggling and Horford not doing his part, the 33-year-old could be traded this coming summer in order to fulfill the Sixers' big need for perimeter shooting, according to USA Today's Jeff Ziglet.
With Horford averaging 11.7 points per game and failing to gel with this group, he isn't even close to living up to his $109 million contract. His value on defense and on the glass isn't enough to make up for his lack of offensive creativity, especially when Brett Brown's crew has needed him most.
Horford doesn't fit in, either. On a team whose stars are Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, it's obvious that the Sixers' strong suit isn't shooting, which is why dealing Horford makes sense despite the quick turnaround.
Barring a change in the 76ers season that sees them make a late playoff run, Horford tenure in Philly could be a short one.
