76ers Have Reportedly Inquired About Multiple Sharpshooters Including T-Wolves’ Robert Covington
It is no secret that losing JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler during the offseason hurt the Philadelphia 76ers' spacing on offense, especially when point guard Ben Simmons is reluctant to pull up from beyond the arc.
Well, through the team's first 38 games, the Sixers rank 23rd in the NBA with just 10.8 made 3's per game. That's below standards, especially for a team looking to contend in the Eastern Conference. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the Sixers are in the market for a sharpshooter ahead of the trade deadline.
The Sixers are targeting a variety of long-range threats, including Malik Beasley, Glenn Robinson, Davis Bertans, E'Twaun Moore, Andre Iguodala and former fan-favorite Robert Covington.
Covington blossomed into one of the premier 3-and-D players in the NBA during his time with the Sixers before being dealt from the team as a piece in the Jimmy Butler trade.
Iguodala has not featured in a single game this year while the Grizzlies dangle him for a first-round pick, while Bertans has been shooting as well as anyone else this year. Glenn Robinson, meanwhile, has put himself back on the map with his performance for the lackluster Warriors.
In any deal the Sixers facilitate, they've made clear that emerging rookie Matisse Thybulle won't be available.
Don't be surprised to hear trade talks heating up between the Sixers and various teams around the league, especially as February inches closer.
