76ers Provide Update on Joel Embiid's Status and it Doesn't Sound Good

On Monday night, 76ers star center Joel Embiid hurt his ring finger in a gruesome injury that made just about everyone watching cringe. However, Embiid was able to come back from the locker room and help the Sixers finish the contest and snap their four-game losing streak.
Well, a few days later, we've finally received an update on his injury. According to the Sixers, Embiid has suffered a torn radial collateral ligament in the fourth metacarpal in his left hand. The star big man remains without a concrete timetable for his return and is expected to consult with doctors to determine the best steps to take going forward.

This is a huge blow for the 76ers, who have been struggling of late, and presumably would have needed Embiid to help right the ship. With the 7-footer sidelined for the foreseeable future, players like Al Horford will be called upon to take on more meaningful roles.

On the year, Embiid has posted averages of 23.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, while shooting at a 32.2% clip from deep. His production is near impossible to replace, but the Sixers will do their best to stay afloat in the East in his stead.
