76ers Reportedly Begin Contract Extension Discussions With Ben Simmons
By Mark Powell

Ben Simmons may not have a reliable jump shot just yet, but he's a steady presence on a contending 76ers team which is only improving. Soon, Simmons' wallet will grow similarly.
After a disappointing playoff exit at the hands of the Toronto Raptors on a clutch shot by Kawhi Leonard in Game 7 (sorry for the reminder, Sixers fans), Philly entered this offseason with oh-so-many questions.
Much of that has yet to be answered, but keeping Simmons long-term would appear to be on Philly's immediate wish list, per Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 76ers have started discussions with agent Rich Paul on a contract extension for All-Star guard Ben Simmons, league sources tell ESPN.

Simmons is going to demand the max. He's a young star; that much is simple. But it's unclear if the Sixers will go that far in securing their point guard of the future. This seems quite tough given the team's current predicament of trying to keep both Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler, who will each command max money.
But if Butler does indeed have one foot out the door, this secures more money for the Sixers to bring to the table for said Simmons discussions.
four-year supermax extension for Damian Lillard would be $183.45M based off the $117M projected 2020-21 cap.

Five-year rookie extension max for Ben Simmons would be $169.65M.
Yes, that's a lot of money, but there's no reason Simmons can't establish some semblance of a jumper to earn the respect of opposing defenses in the near future. For the 76ers, this is a no-brainer.
