By Jerry Trotta
We don't even want to think what was going through the mind of Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone after they completed the signing of Gerrit Cole on Tuesday. An interesting nugget coincided with the bombshell revelation, however, lies within the fact that the Yankees were in agreement with Cole hours before the new officially broke around midnight.
Therefore, it's no surprise that the organization's brass, per SNY's Any Martino, were in an upbeat, euphoric mood at the Winter Meetings on Tuesday.
That kind of cheery mood was to be expected given the seismic shift that Cole's signing will force upon the MLB's balance of power.
Though it might have appeared that Cashman and Co. kept their rawest feelings under wraps all evening, Boone was incapable of doing so. Renowned for wearing his emotions on his sleeve, the Yankees skipper is understood to have unleashed several fist pumps on his way to dinner, per Martino.
This is gold, folks. Boone's actions serve as a perfect indicator that the Yankees are going to have plenty of fun in 2020. And really, the jubilation has already started.
