Aaron Boone Getting Suspended Thanks to NSFW Audio is Completely Ridiculous and Expected
By Parker White

I think it's safe to say that we've all lost our mind and gone a bit too far in our anger before, right? That's what happened Thursday to New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, who was rightfully ejected in the bottom of the second inning in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Unlike most instances when managers have some choice words with the umpires, Boone's animated exchange was caught on audio and has gotten plenty of attention in the 24 hours since.
MLB doesn't like their umpires getting berated like this young guy did, especially for all to hear, and thus they suspended Boone one game and fined him for his actions.
MLB makes it official: Boone received a 1-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for "inappropriate actions, including contact with the home plate umpire, during the bottom of the second inning of his Club’s Thursday afternoon game." Suspension served tonight. #Savage

Does that seem a little extreme to you? I know Boone has gotten some blow back, especially from the umps' brethren, but is a suspension and a fine warranted? And what exactly was the "contact" with the home plate umpire? Bumping hats?
Boone will sit out Friday night against the Colorado Rockies, and in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal, but MLB is handing out suspensions like candy.

Whether the league wants to believe it or not, fans love arguments between the manager and umpires, especially since these interactions have largely been taken away with the replay system.
Boone's "savages" comment was good TV, and while I'm sure the home plate umpire didn't appreciate it, sometimes you need a young whipper snapper like this guy to get laid into once in a while.
