Hold your breath, Yankees fans. It would appear that we have a positive update on Giancarlo Stanton heading your direction for the first time in what feels like an eternity.

As of July 22, the former NL MVP had not begun baseball activities as he rehabbed his right knee sprain. Fast forward to Wednesday, however, and Aaron Boone stated that Stanton has resumed hitting off a tee, coupled with some throwing exercises.

It's...something!

How are we feeling, Pinstripe faithful? It remains to be seen how far off Giancarlo is from beginning a rehab stint in the minors, but Boone's update should actually be perceived as reassuring for once.

In other good news, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic understands that the four-time All-Star has been testing out his knee on the anti-gravity treadmill in recent days.

Sure, these are baby steps. But considering how dominant the Yanks have been this season, why wouldn't they slow-play their slugger's return...especially when virtually every plug-an-play man has been producing?

Thanks to a succession of injuries, Stanton has barely suited up for the Bombers in 2019, appearing in just nine games for the club. However, this update suggests that the Notre Dame High School product could return just in time for the postseason.

That was always the expected endgame, no?
