Aaron Boone Reveals Aaron Hicks Suffered Setback and Could Miss Rest of Season
By Sean Facey

It's September and the injury bug is still doing it's best to try and hamper the Yankees' progress.
Manager Aaron Boone revealed that star center fielder Aaron Hicks, who was in the midst of recovering from a flexor strain, has suffered a setback and could possibly miss the rest of the season.
Aaron Hicks (flexor strain) was shut down in his rehab b/c he didn’t feel as well as needed to throw. He underwent a dye-contrast MRI yesterday, per Aaron Boone, which showed the flexor & UCL ligament were fine. Asked if Hicks’s season is in jeopardy, Boone said “it could be.”

Hicks said something didn't feel right while he was throwing, and while an MRI showed that his flexor and UCL ligament were both fine, Boone was sure to clarify that his season "could be" in doubt.
The Yankees have the depth to play without Hicks and be fine considering they have the likes of Mike Tauchman, Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier available, but there's no denying that they'd be best off with him in the everyday lineup, especially come October.
His glove is absolutely vital to the team. Hicks plays some of the best defense at his position in the league and easily has one of the most powerful arms in all of baseball.

Just as important to the Yankees is his bat. His switch-hitting ability gives the lineup power from both sides of the plate. Hicks has 12 home runs in just 59 games this year, proving that he possesses a level of power not many players can brag about.
It's unfortunate that he has to deal with this bad luck at such a critical juncture in the season, but ultimately, his health comes before his duty to the team.

At 29 years old, he still has plenty of his career left to look forward to. Hopefully, he's able to make a full recovery from this injury, and if he somehow manages to defy the odds and come back again this year, then more power to him.
