Aaron Boone Reveals Luis Severino Will Start Game 7 Against Gerrit Cole if Necessary
By Mark Powell

After the Yankees sent a sound message by winning Game 5 and keeping the ALCS alive (for now), Aaron Boone had some decisions to make.
Boone has yet to pick a starter for Game 6, but should the Yankees survive their first win-or-go-home contest, the skipper is opting to go with Luis Severino to start Game 7. Severino, whose postseason statistics leave much to be desired, also got the call in Game 3 in the Bronx. After a tough start which included giving up two runs in just as many innings, Severino calmed down to go 4.1 strong before he was pulled.
For the Yankees to win a potential Game 7 against Gerrit Cole, they'll likely need a better performance than that in a tough environment.

While Boone didn't outright say it, it appears he's matching the Astros bullpen game decision for Game 6 with his own. Entering the series, the 'pen was a decisive advantage for New York. However, the likes of Adam Ottavino haven't delivered so far, leaving the Yankees with limited options they can trust.
Aaron Boone isn’t ready to announce his Game 6 starter. They’ll discuss it on the plane. He does have a Game 7 starter: Luis Severino.

For the Yankees to complete a monumental comeback and win three games in just as many days against the best the AL has to offer, they'll need all hands on deck. Game 6 should be a prime example of that.
