Aaron Boone's Latest Update on Troy Tulowitzki Suggests He'll be Out a Long Time
By Michael Luciano
Surprise, surprise! Troy Tulowitzki is hurt again and doesn't appear anywhere close to getting back on the field.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that the oft-injured 34-year-old shortstop has "gone home" and left the Yankees complex in Tampa.
This comes after Tulowitzki himself said he was "pretty much over the injury." This sounds awfully familiar to the conundrum the team faced, and is currently facing, with outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who seemed to be a week away from a rehab assignment for the entire 2018 season.
While this doesn't affect the Yankees to the degree that they initially thought his injury would, as the emergence of DJ LeMahieu and Gio Urshela have been upgrades over what Tulowitzki would have likely offered, this is yet another heartbreaking chapter of how a player who was once one of the best shortstops in the game was brought down by a string of bad luck.
Does anyone even remember the All-Star in Colorado? Or has the banged-up shell in Toronto and New York replaced all that? It's easy to laugh at Ellsbury and Tulowitzki's almost comic inability to stay healthy, but their stories are tragic tales that robbed us of a great outfielder and shortstop.
