Aaron Brooks Signs for Same Australian League Team as LaMelo Ball
By Scott Rogust
Earlier in the week, LaMelo Ball opted against playing in the NCAA and instead, signed with the Illawara Hawks in Australia's National Basketball League. Now, he will be joined by an NBA veteran.
The NBL announced that the Hawks have signed former NBA point guard Aaron Brooks.
Brooks last played in the NBA in for the Timberwolves in 2018, and will now join LaMelo Down Under to continue his playing career. It'll definitely be interesting to see the youngest Ball brother playing alongside the 34-year-old veteran.
After playing collegiate ball at Oregon, Brooks was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. Brooks spent four seasons with Houston, where he won the NBA's Most Improved Player Award in 2010, after averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Brooks bounced around the league as a member of the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
In his 13-season career, Brooks has averaged 9.7 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 rebounds through 645 games.
