On Saturday, the New York Yankees announced that center fielder Aaron Hicks has been transferred to the 60-day injured list after reinstating right-handed pitcher David Hale from the 60-day IL.

For Hicks, this obviously is not good news.

Hicks, who has played in only 59 games this season, has been out with a flexor strain and his season appeared to be in jeopardy when manager Aaron Boone revealed a setback earlier in the month.

Now, the thought of him returning seems to be over. While it comes at a loss, the Yankees do get a veteran pitcher, whose had some good moments this year, off the shelf.

David Hale has made 19 appearances for the Yankees this year, posting a 2.89 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 37.1 innings. However, he landed on the IL with a back injury and then suffered a setback with a knee injury.

Hicks barely contributed this year because of injury, so his loss isn't as doom and gloom as it would've been in 2018 when he had a career year.
