After several weeks of mysterious non-diagnoses of the Yankees' increasingly frustrated best player, we finally have a diagnosis for Aaron Judge's troubles.

His migrating pain, which moved from his shoulder to his pectoral, back and forth, has now been determined to be a stress fracture of the rib. Judge will be reevaluated in two weeks, but may need surgery if rest doesn't do the trick...a surgery I cannot fully comprehend, which Aaron Boone claims would involve removal of the rib. Let's not do that!

This is daunting news, because no one wants to be without Judge for any length of time, but the less mysterious the ailment the better. And the less tearing of the pectoral muscle that's involved, the MUCH better. The Yankees are stocked with outfield depth, and Giancarlo Stanton looks to be returning in April. They can make do without Aaron Judge, but they cannot lose Judge for the season in March.

And yes, the injury dates back to last September, under the team's previous training staff. Of course it does!

The more Aaron Judge plays this season, the better. Now, all Yankee fans have to do is cross their fingers and hope the surgical option doesn't become necessary, no matter how many "good phone conversations" Judge and Boone have in the interim.
