Aaron Rodgers Being Held Out of Intended Packers Preseason Debut Thursday With Back Tightness
By Jerry Trotta
It's fair to say that all football fans are clamoring to get our first look at Aaron Rodgers in first-year head coach Matt LaFleur's offense. And that long-awaited phenomenon was supposed to be witnessed Thursday night in a Week 2 preseason tilt between the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens.
Unfortunately, however, the debut will have to wait, as the two-time MVP will not feature in tonight's clash due to back tightness, though it is merely a precaution, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
We normally don't get excited for a preseason game that features the Cheeseheads because we normally know what we're gonna get -- one drive of A-Rodg under center. But, this particular night boasted ALL of the compelling storylines that made us eager to tune in.
Rodgers and LaFleur have appeared to butt heads on numerous occasions throughout minicamp and training camp, with the seven-time Pro Bowler seeming to grow frustrated with the lack of free will the young HC is permitting him at the line of scrimmage.
Oh well.
Let's hope that this knock, well, is nothing more than a knock, and that the game's most talented gunslinger is able to get some run in during Green Bay's Week 3 contest against the Raiders.
