Aaron Rodgers Calls Himself Out for Missing Chance at Game-Tying TD Against Eagles

If there's one positive thing that Green Bay Packers fans can take out of the team's crushing 34-27 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, it's that there's no shortage of accountability in the locker room.
Franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers shouldered the blame for his team's first loss of the season. He called himself out for throwing a forced interception on the goal-line instead of waiting and throwing the ball to a wide-open Darrius Shepherd for what would have been the game-tying touchdown.
"They dropped Darrius there in the back," said Rodgers of his team's final play on offense. "If I just hold onto that a little bit more, obviously I see Darrius and we tie it up."
The replay must certainly be painful for Rodgers to watch. Shepherd is standing alone in the end zone while the ball is popped into the air and pulled down by the Eagles to seal the deal.
This is the type of leadership Green Bay needs out of Rodgers. This team feeds off of him, and if they know that he recognizes the mistakes he makes and is ready to work on them, then they'll be just fine. And at the end of the day, they're still 3-1 and well in control of their own destiny.
The loss stings, there's no doubt about that. But, it's encouraging to know that the Packers, especially Rodgers, recognize just how close they came to tying things up. They know what to do next time around to avoid another unfortunate ending.
