Aaron Rodgers Misses Packers' Practice Sunday With Back Issue
By Jerry Trotta

Aaron Rodgers was a surprising last-minute scratch from Thursday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens because he experienced back tightness during warmups.
The Green Bay Packers ultimately described their decision to withhold the two-time MVP as precautionary and expected him to be ready to go for practice on Sunday. Well, that wasn't the case.
ESPN's Rob Demovsky claims that DeShone Kizer, not Rodgers, took reps with the first-team offense during the Pack's session earlier this afternoon.
The official word on Aaron Rodgers is he's being held out for precautionary reasons with his continued back tightness. DeShone Kizer took the first reps with the ones. https://t.co/Etm5PSaVaq

Head coach Matt LaFleur had planned to let Rodgers spin it for a little over a quarter with the starters in what would have been the seven-time Pro Bowler's long-awaited debut in Green Bay's new offense.
A-Rodg took just seven snaps last preseason, but the first year HC was hoping to get his QB some work before Week 1's clash against the Bears considering that he's implementing a new scheme.
"I just think those guys all going out together prior to the Chicago game just to work the kinks out, if there are any, but just to try and get into a flow of the game," LaFleur said. "Having him hear the play calls when he's actually the guy out there, get in and out of the huddle...It's more or less just getting into that flow."

All the Cheeseheads out there shouldn't be overly concerned, though the status of their franchise cornerstone is obviously something to keep tabs on. Stay tuned to see if, and potentially when, Rodgers returns under center for the Pack next week.
