Aaron Rodgers Pushed for Game-Changer Allen Lazard to See More Action Against Lions

With the game on the line in Week 6, everyone knew Aaron Rodgers was going to take control. Well, as it turns out, he had a monster affect with the coaching staff as well.

The Packers went into Monday's game against the Detroit Lions without Davante Adams, then they lost Geronimo Allison in the middle of it. Rodgers requested the team bring in Allen Lazard late, and he became the game's unsung hero.

Amazing.

Rodgers reportedly asked wide receivers coach Alvis Whitted to get Lazard playing time in the fourth quarter. The Packers' receiving corps lacked depth and had cost them earlier in the game. With the Lions up 22-13, Lazard hauled in his first NFL touchdown to cut the lead to two.

Next thing you knew, the Packers were marching down the field again, Mason Crosby lined up for a chip shot and, what a surprise, Rodgers led Green Bay to a seemingly impossible victory once again.

Lazard's touchdown was part of a night where he caught four passes for 65 yards. Before the Lions game, Lazard had only made one career catch, a seven-yard completion in a December game last year that had no playoff implications, and didn't even feature Rodgers.

The Green Bay QB said he became friends with Lazard through team meetings, and grew to like him because of his willingness to ask for the ball and say which routes he wants to run.

Props to Lazard for getting the job done, especially after AR12 put in the word to get him on the field.
