Aaron Rodgers Thinks About Winning One More Super Bowl Pretty Much Constantly
By Jerry Trotta
The common football fan considers Aaron Rodgers as one of the most talented gunslingers to have ever graced the gridiron. From his historically great accuracy, mind-rattling statistics and incomparable efficiency outside of the pocket, there simply isn't a box that No. 12 doesn't check.
Where Rodgers loses votes in the all-time greats discussion, however, is the fact that he's hoisted the Lombardi Trophy just once across his 15-year career. And to hear him tell it, the protracted chase for ring No. 2 apparently haunts the two-time MVP.
"It's on my mind every day," Rodgers said via ESPN. "That's why we play the game. That's why you put in the time in the offseason, that's why you do the little things...I'm 36, I know what this is all about. This is an important opportunity for us. I feel like I've got a lot of really good years left, but you never know...We've had some great teams that have been an injury away or a play away from being special, so I want to make the most of this opportunity."
This might not come across as an inspiring quote to most NFL fans, but Rodgers isn't known to ooze electricity during interviews. He knows what's at stake this postseason, particularly because Green Bay failed to make the playoffs in their previous two campaigns.
The Packers offense has been as unpredictable as its ever been in the Rodgers era this season, but if anyone is capable of completely flipping the script, it's him -- especially if he's playing with this kind of chip on his shoulder.
