Aaron Rodgers Should Take Conversation With Brett Favre as Opportunity to Avoid His Mistakes
By Jerry Trotta

Aaron Rodgers has yet to make public comments since the NFL Draft, during which the Green Bay Packers shockingly traded up to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in the first round. While Rodgers has reached out to his new teammate, we haven't really heard a peep from the 36-year-old.
Ironically enough, the Packers gunslinger made the time to speak with Brett Favre, who was put in a similar position to that of his successor when Green Bay drafted Rodgers at No. 24 overall back in 2005.
While we don't doubt that Favre gave the two-time MVP solid advice, the latter should take this conversation as an opportunity to avoid the former's past mistakes.
Brett Favre just now on The @RichEisenShow said he’s talked to Aaron Rodgers about the Packers’ decision to pick Jordan Love:

“I’m not going to talk about all that we talked," Favre said. "He was, let’s just say surprised, they went that direction.”
Like any tenacious competitor would, Favre felt offended when the Packers selected Rodgers. He, like No. 12 believes now, felt as though he had years of football left. He was right, but that is neither here nor there. It doesn't get a lot of publicity these days, but Favre didn't exactly take Rodgers under his wing.
The eight-time Pro Bowler has the perfect chance to look like the bigger man by doing so with Love. We're not saying that Rodgers has to be buddy-buddy with the former Aggie, but mentoring him (to an extent) would just be the right thing to do.
Love did nothing wrong here. Green Bay, more specifically general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur, made the decision to prepare for the future rather than help Rodgers capture his second Super Bowl title.
Brett Favre said on the @RichEisenShow that he spoke to Aaron Rodgers and Rodgers was "surprised" by the Jordan Love pick. Favre adds that it won't be Rodgers' job to mentor Love. "That guy is there to ultimately take your spot."

We respectfully disagree, Favre.
Rodgers has every right to be insulted. However, once camp starts he should make it his business to counsel Love and make him feel welcomed as a rookie.
