Aaron Rodgers is a tough guy to read.

He's not against throwing shade, and that held true toward the end of Mike McCarthy's tenure with the Green Bay Packers, as reports indicated that No. 12 was unhappy with his coach. Those feelings almost certainly had an impact on McCarthy's firing. The coach now has the top job with the Dallas Cowboys, however, and any hard feelings between the two may officially be over and done with, according to Rodgers himself.

Knowing Rodgers and McCarthy exchanged texts, fans may be interested to know who began the exchange. Rodgers may very well have reached out to ask his former coach if he was sane to takke a job working for both Jerry Jones the owner and Jerry Jones the GM. Perhaps McCarthy sent the first message to tell Rodgers that the Cowboys are going to win the NFC in 2020.

As expected, McCarthy's hiring was notable news in Green Bay.

Rodgers is right to be a bit surprised about McCarthy taking the Cowboys job given the sky-high expectations and super-massive fan scrutiny. It is certainly one of the most prestigious coachin positions in global sports, however, and it is possible Jones has agreed to stop back just a bit and let McCarthy get more hands-on.

What we do know is that there will certainly be a new kind of rivalry between Rodgers and McCarthy in the years to come.
