Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers slot receiver Adam Humphries was a hot commodity on the free agency market. Despite receiving the opportunity to contend for Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, Humphries chose to sign with the Tennessee Titans.

Many fans and analysts around the NFL were wondering why Humphries would spurn the Patriots dynasty in favor of the Titans, who have been a mediocre franchise at best in recent years. Well, now we finally know why.

Humphries told The Athletic he turned down the Patriots' four-year offer due to quarterback Tom Brady's age (among a few other reasons).

Brady has famously stated that he hopes to play until he's 45 (he'll turn 42 in August), but Humphries doesn't seem to think that would've been a good move for him to make.

Humphries stressed that quality of life and state taxes also played a factor in signing his $36 million contract with the Titans.

While it's seen as blasphemy to reject a team like the Patriots, Humphries is happy with the decision he's made, and he'll look to be a pivotal role in the Titans offense in 2019 and beyond.
