VIDEO: Adam Jones' First Home Run in Japan Was an Absolute Laser Shot
By Michael Luciano
MLB might still be on hiatus for another month, but that hasn't stopped former Baltimore Orioles star Adam Jones from crossing the Pacific and smacking dingers in the Japanese NPB. Jones, now playing with the Orix Buffaloes, hit his first Japanese home run against the Chiba Lotte Marines Monday night. Jones' towering blast put the Buffaloes up 4-0, although they would later lose that lead and fall 6-5.
Famously traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Orioles for Erik Bedard, Jones hit 263 home runs, won three Gold Gloves, and made five All-Star teams in his 11 seasons as an Oriole. He hit .260 with 16 home runs during his only campaign with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Buffaloes need a veteran player with enough power in their bat to wake up this lineup and get back to the postseason, and Jones could fit the bill.
Even though Jones' solid MLB career appears to be over, he might be the best baseball player in the world currently playing. Orioles fans have to like seeing their beloved No. 10 crushing meatballs over in Hyogo Prefecture.
