VIDEO: Adam Schefter Flames NFL With Devastating Quote About Draft and Team Operations Continuing
By Adam Weinrib
Once the NFL's lost Adam Schefter, it may be time to reevaluate its current stance. With the 2020 season's start date very much up in thee air given that the COVID-19 menace continues to spread without any real end in sight, the ESPN insider arrived on Scott Van Pelt's late-night SportsCenter block on Tuesday to express his displeasure with the way the league is conducting itself. Whether you believe we "need" sports right now or not, you can't deny that Schefty made a salient point, and he made it emphatically.
Yes, NFL free agency was a welcome distraction. But per the modeling we've seen, the next three weeks are going to be absurdly devastating for our country, and having the NFL Draft at the end of that peak period just feels wrong.
As Schefter said, there's carnage in the streets. And soon, if it hasn't yet, it will affect each and every one of us.
If Americans cooperate and act now, there's a good chance we will be able to resume football as normal in the fall.
But as of now, we're in the midst of global disaster. Everyone involved in the game acknowledges OTAs will not proceed, and the early summer remains a dangerous flashpoint. All Schefter is asking for is a little compassion superseding draconian leadership.
