Adam Silver Admits Chinese Government Wanted Daryl Morey Fired Over Hong Kong Tweet
By Karl Rasmussen

The ongoing quarrel between the NBA and China following Daryl Morey's tweet in support of Hong Kong protestors continues to escalate. In an interview with Robin Roberts of Good Morning America, Adam Silver admitted the league has suffered "substantial" financial losses by choosing to stand alongside the Rockets GM.
Silver also claimed that the Chinese government requested that Morey be fired as general manager of the Rockets, though Silver swiftly denied the demand.

In fact, Silver said that there's "no chance" that he'll be fired, or even disciplined by the league.
"We made clear that we were being asked to fire him, by the Chinese government, by the parties we dealt with, government and business," Silver said. "We said there's no chance that's happening. There's no chance we'll even discipline him."

The league is making its stance clear here, and Silver is backing the Rockets GM, despite the financial impact it will have on the league.
NBA games are still not back on air in China, but Silver claims the league is dealing with the loss of revenue.
