Adam Wainwright Donates $250,000 to Help Cardinals Minor Leaguers During Coronavirus Crisis
By Evan Wolff

The coronavirus pandemic has put a cloud over the world, with a lot of people struggling to find the good when difficult news seems to dominate the media landscape. However, if there has been a positive to come out of this, it's that people across the sports world have shown us their incredibly generous personalities, including those in MLB.
One of the longtime veterans of baseball, St. Louis Cardinals' pitcher Adam Wainwright, has also decided to add to the philanthropic efforts of his fellow players.
Wainwright decided to personally donate $250,000 to minor-league players affected by the sudden lack of income during the coronavirus crisis, a fantastic gesture from a longtime member of the Cardinals.
Remarkable. The great Adam Wainwright donating $250,000. #STLCards https://t.co/aXCaUmW3CJ

They're family, after all.
Being a minor-league baseball player is a difficult way to try and make a living. With very little pay and unforgiving travel, minor-league players couldn't afford to have a season suspended like this. The original stipend from MLB was due to end of the 9th of April, but Wainwright's generous donation allows for those players to support themselves for a little while longer while this pandemic passes.
This is unreal.

Unreal that Adam Wainwright and his wife did this to help minor leaguers.
Also unreal that one major league player did this and not one major league club. https://t.co/9QZmZdlyoZ
Hopefully more teams will take the hint that their minor-league players are in desperate need of support. It shouldn't fall on the worker to help out other workers. This would be the perfect opportunity for an MLB organization to be the first to donate additional funds to minor-league players.
