Adrian Peterson Trolled the Redskins When Asked About Patriots Defense

Steven Sims and the Washington Redskins might have drawn first blood against the New England Patriots, but just about everything after that was a complete mess. The Redskins were whipped 33-7 by a vastly superior opponent in the Patriots.

Running back Adrian Peterson remarked after the game that Bill Belichick didn't even try anything that innovative. Peterson revealed the Vikings were gameplanning by studying "exotic stuff on film," but when they took the field, the Patriots showed them none of what they had reviewed. Instead, the Pats ran their base defense and waited for Colt McCoy and the offense to implode.

Well, safe to say that game plan worked for New England, as despite not throwing around any bizarre schemes, they were EASILY able to handle the putrid Redskins offense.

Colt McCoy was predictably poor, throwing for just 119 yards while getting sacked six times and throwing an interception. Peterson himself had just seven carries for 18 yards, and backups Chris Thompson and Wendell Smallwood both outperformed the veteran.

This might be the nail in the coffin for head coach Jay Gruden, who many around the league believe is a dead man walking.

The Patriots were out here running a basic Cover 2 on every play, and the Redskins still had no answer for it. And with Dwayne Haskins waiting on the sideline, the team opted to keep throwing McCoy out there, despite seeing next to zero results.

You know things are bad in D.C. when members of the Redskins are even clowning the team.
