Members of 2017 Astros Have Some Ironically Funny Old Tweets After Cheating Scandal

Since November, fans have been anxiously awaiting the harsh punishment intended for the Houston Astros, once former pitcher Mike Fiers told The Athletic that their 2017 championship campaign involved the illegal stealing of other teams' signs, using advanced technology and a trash can or two, at Minute Maid Park.

After the punishment, which included a $5 million fine, the stripping of both their first and second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, and the suspension of general manager Jeff Luhnow and manager AJ Hinch for the entire 2020 season (the two were subsequently fired), fans took to twitter to use the Astros' own quotes against them.

Before an ALDS game in 2017 against the Boston Red Sox, AJ Hinch tweeted that hopefully a playoff win would help a pair of young fans "avoid the principal's office." Of course, Hinch is now firmly in that very same office, thanks, in part, to some playoff wins. Fitting!

The same account even went after Astros' ace Justin Verlander, posting a classic whiny reaction from JV in response to one of many MLB scandals, back in the day.

Of course, excuses are bound to pour forth from Houston any second now, too.

Even the Astros' own Twitter account should've been more careful, back in the day. This old message from 2016 about Jose Altuve going 3-for-3 takes on a VERY different tone these days, huh?

It seems like the Astros are learning that you really do get what you deserve in the end.
