Some HUGE news just dropped concerning the Alabama Crimson Tide and a highly-touted recruit, and it doesn't necessarily feature the narrative we're used to.

Defensive lineman Antonio Alfano, the No.5 overall prospect in the 2019 class according to most recruiting databases, and Bama's highest-rated signing for this season, reportedly entered the transfer portal on Friday morning.

To provide some insight to Alfano's dilemma, the freshman missed three days of practice leading up to Alabama's home opener last weekend against New Mexico State. In fact, Alfano wasn't even on the field for the clash.

Following the game, Nick Saban addressed the situation, stating that the DL was "going through some discipline things with me," adding that he would return to the team if he endured an attitude adjustment.

The Crimson Tide boss (kind of) provided another update on Alfano's hiatus on Wednesday, before he and the team traveled to Colombia, SC ahead of Saturday's SEC showdown versus the Gamecocks.

“Not really,” said Saban if he had any more info on Alfano's holdout. “He’s kind of disappeared a little bit.”

Wow.

Alabama rolled in their first two games, but once their schedule beefs up, there's no doubting that Alfano's absence will be felt. Stay tuned for updates on what program will pounce on the opportunity and reap the Tide's spoils.
