It's not often that members of a college football coaching staff will willingly move away from the Alabama Crimson Tide for a supposed better opportunity. It's even more surprising when that move is reported to come with a pay cut.

Yet that is exactly what has happened with now-former Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran. Cochran, who had been with the Crimson Tide since 2007, reportedly accepted a pay cut of $40,000 to join the SEC rival Georgia Bulldogs in a similar role.

As expected, it has sent shockwaves throughout the world of college football. Establishing tenure with the consensus top coach in college football is an achievement that many would go through great lengths to obtain, so for an assistant who has been there for a decade to suddenly depart from Nick Saban's illustrious staff is unexpected, to say the least.

One of the most important aspects of college football is the gains that are earned inside the weight room, under the tutelage of the Strength and Conditioning coach. This very much could be a significant loss for Alabama as they prepare to try and get back to the College Football Playoff.
