Alabama Doctor Explains Key Difference Between Tua Tagovailoa and Bo Jackson Hip Injuries
By Andy Loughmiller

Alabama lost star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the remainder of the season to a devastating hip injury during their Week 12 game vs. Mississippi State on Saturday. Several Twitter doctors immediately pointed out that the dislocated hip was similar to Bo Jackson's infamous injury that ultimately ended his career and speculated that Tagovailoa could suffer the same fate.
While this is undoubtedly a serious injury, making the bold leap to "career ending" is misguiding college football fans.
Important note on Tua from Dr. Cain: his hip injury is completely different from Bo Jackson’s. Bo didn’t know his injury was severe & kept playing on it, causing irreparable damage. Docs acted quickly for Tua & after successful surgery today, I’m told experts expect full recovery

Jackson attempted to play through his injury and eventually ended up doing further damage to his lower body that forced him to step away from the game far earlier than he should have. This will not be the case for Alabama's signal caller, who is expected to make a full recovery according to ESPN's Laura Rutledge.
Tagovailoa had surgery on his hip Monday morning and "his prognosis is excellent," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

There is a good chance we won't see Tua play another down for the Crimson Tide.
Prior to the injury, the 2018 Maxwell Award winner was projected to be selected in the top five of the upcoming NFL draft. This setback may cause him to slide down a few spots, but he is still expected to be taken in the first round.
Tagovailoa's football career is far from over. Football fans everywhere should be thankful that we haven't seen the last of this talented young man.
