Alabama Promotes Butch Jones to New Position on Nick Saban's Coaching Staff
By Jackson Thompson

Alabama's Butch Jones is moving on up from his position as offensive analyst. Moving forward, he's taking on the role of special assistant to the head coach under Nick Saban, as first reported by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.
Jones, who joined the Crimson Tide in 2018, has been a head coaching candidate over the last couple years for a handful of jobs, but has chose to stay on Saban's staff. He could be a valuable asset to Saban in this new gig, as he boasts head coaching experience of his own at three different programs, including Bama rivals Tennessee.

“Most of the stuff is behind the scenes -- film study, doing administrative type work,” said Saban of Jones’s responsibilities back in October. “His role has always sort of been that, and he’s done a really, really good job of it ... He’s a great person and a great guy to have in your organization.”

Steve Sarkisian to remain at Alabama as OC.
Charlie Strong hired as defensive analyst.
Freddie Roach hired as defensive line coach.
Coaching staff hasn't seen extreme changes but some changes. #RollTide
Jones is one of six former FBS head coaches currently on the Alabama staff along with offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, offensive line coach Kyle Flood and analysts Charlie Strong, Major Applewhite and Mike Stoops. Not a bad way to roll if you're Nick Saban.
