Alabama Refusing to Give Clemson Credit for Whooping Them is So Petty
The Clemson Tigers had a memorable 2018 season by going undefeated en route to a National Championship, but Alabama is hesitant to say they were the best team from a year ago.
Nick Saban credited last season's embarrassing loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game to late season distractions rather than Clemson being the better team that night.
Linebacker Dylan Moses took it a step further, claiming Georgia was the toughest opponent he's played in his college career, not Clemson.
These are interesting statements considering Clemson finished the season as the only undefeated team in college football at 15-0. Their closest game came early in the season at College Station where they defeated Texas A&M, 28-26. Other than that game, Clemson's average margin of victory was a whopping 33.2 points.
The Tigers handled Notre Dame easily in the Cotton Bowl and went on to demolish the favored Alabama, 44-16. Clemson dominated for 60 minutes, and never really game the Crimson Tide a chance.
The lack of respect for a historic Clemson team comes off as disrespectful and petty, if you ask me. Alabama has won enough championship games to concede they were thoroughly outplayed in one of them.
