Alabama CB Scooby Carter Enters Transfer Portal for Third Time Since November
An odd saga is taking place within the Alabama football program and it has to do with defensive back Scooby Carter.
Carter joined the program in 2019 and appeared in three games. Then came a suspension in November that began a back-and-forth of Carter entering and exiting the transfer portal. Well, as of Thursday, Carter's name is back in the portal, potentially marking the (official) end of his short tenure with the Crimson Tide.
Carter was one of the top-rated defensive backs in the country coming out of high school in 2019, but this transfer portal situation shows Alabama may not be the best fit for him. Entering the transfer portal once is a significant move, but for Carter to waver on his decision with such frequency is down right confusing.
This stands as the third time Carter has entered the transfer portal since November.
At this point it is hard to know what exactly is going on. Carter reportedly exited the portal in December the first time, but Nick Saban claimed he was still suspended and wasn't practicing with the team, which ultimately prompted him to re-enter the portal in January, and now again at the tail end of February
Saban may try to salvage this one more time, but it may just be best for both sides to move on and end the drama.
