Reports came in late Saturday afternoon that Tua Tagovailoa's 2019 season was over due to a troubling hip injury suffered during Alabama's road win over Mississippi State in Starkville. Confirmation has now arrived via Crimson Tide orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain, who provided a health update on the supertar QB via an official team release.

The good news is that any immediate danger posed by the dislocation of his hip has been managed. This is an important piece of news given the concerning comparisons between this injury and the one that ended the legendary Bo Jackson's career.

But that doesn't mean Bama fans are resting easy just yet. That peace of mind won't come until the course of Tua's treatment as been determined. As of now, Dr. Cain notes, further evaluation will be necessary before a treatment plan can be formalized.

No matter how you look at it and no matter which team you support, the loss of a top talent like Tagovailoa is bad for college football. The game isn't as strong without this kid flinging the ball around. We wish him nothing but the best as he begins to work his way back step by step.
