Alabama upsets North Carolina to advance to the Elite Eight
The Tide keep moving on
This is an upset that's going to be talked about for a while. Heading into Thursday's showdown between No. 1 seed North Carolina and No. 4 Alabama, a lot of people assumed the Tar Heels would have no issues moving on.
However, behind Grant Nelson's 24 points and 12 rebounds, the SEC school was able to do the unthinkable, taking down North Carolina 89-87. Just like that, the NCAA title dreams for the Heels are dead and gone.
North Carolina had a 54-46 lead at halftime, but they were ice cold from the field in the second half. RJ Davis is a Carolina great, but he was off shooting the ball, including going 0-for-9 in his 3-point attempts. Next up for Alabama is a showdown with Clemson with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
