Alex Bregman Disputes Rumor of Being Included in 2017 Trade Offer to Tigers
By Parker White

Remember back in 2017 when Detroit Tigers right-handed starter Michael Fulmer was an All-Star and reigning AL Rookie of the Year? He looked like one of the next great young starters in the game, but unfortunately his career has been sidetracked because of the injury bug.
Well, he was a hot name on the trade market at that time, and it's been reported recently that the Chicago Cubs were once willing to deal stud shortstop Javier Baez for Fulmer, and the Houston Astros nearly followed suit by offering All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman.

Boy, wouldn't that have changed the baseball landscape?
It seems crazy to imagine that happening, especially with Fulmer's rough 2018 campaign and subsequent injuries, and if you ask Bregman himself, it's even tougher to envision.
Per Bregman, this report isn't true.
Nah false

Is Bregman saying it's "false" because he actually knows the answer, or does he think it's too outlandish to be true?
Whether it's accurate or not, the Cubs and Astros clearly made the right decision here (or lucked out when dealing with the incompetent Al Avila, if the shoe happened to be on the other foot). Baez and Bregman are two of the best players in the entire sport, while Fulmer is just trying to get healthy and be half the pitcher he once was.
