Alex Bregman Proves He Learned Very Little From Trash Talking Red Sox and Trash Talks Rays
By Adam Weinrib

Alex Bregman rebounded from his ALCS defeat at the hands of the Boston Red Sox last season by smashing 41 home runs in a historic 2019 campaign, making noise with his bat along the way.
Then, at the first sign of postseason trouble, Bregman reverted right back to making noise with his...mouth.
We love Bregman's exuberance, but choosing the immediate aftermath of a resounding Game 3 defeat to get blustery would worry me, as an Astros fan.
Alex Bregman: "I think today they just outplayed us in every phase of the game and tomorrow we come and finish it."

They're confident. They have Justin Verlander on the mound. But do the Rays have as large a bulletin board as the infinitely sensitive 2018 Red Sox? If so, tough look.
You may remember last season, when Bregman posted a series of video clips to his Instagram story detailing the numerous bombs he and the 'Stros had hit off Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi during the regular season.

Then, Eovaldi whiffed Bregman a bunch of times, Houston defended home field by losing three consecutive times, and that was that.

Are we saying history will repeat itself? Of course not. The 2019 Rays are not last year's Sox, both in ability and prickliness. But if you brought the avalanche upon yourself in 2018, why even try again?
