Alex Rodriguez Actually Emerges as Potential Mets Buyer
By Sean Facey

The New York Mets' deal with Steve Cohen fell through in dramatic fashion, leaving the Wilpons in search of a new buyer to take over the team, but they might not have to look for long.
It seems as though former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has cropped up as a potential suitor for ownership of the Bronx Bombers' crosstown rivals.

It would certainly be interesting to see Rodriguez come out of nowhere to take over control of the Mets, but it also wouldn't be unprecedented.
In fact, he wouldn't even be the first former Yankee to own a team in the NL East. It was just over two years ago that his Bronx teammate Derek Jeter took control of the Miami Marlins.
Could Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez own the New York Mets!? Not so fast. Everybody take a chill pill.

I'll explain what he's trying to do and how Derek Jeter did this first: pic.twitter.com/k1YT6UuBk7
Having the two of them squaring off vicariously through their teams 18 times per year would make for some juicy story lines about their relationship.
It's still a long-shot that A-Rod manages to pull this off, especially considering Cohen's pursuit of the Mets hasn't officially come to a close, but how he plays this situation will be worth keeping an eye on.
