Amari Cooper Shuts Down False Rumors He Was Shot in Dallas and Confirms He’s Okay
By Michael Luciano

The football world was paralyzed for a split second when a rumor claiming Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper was shot in a Dallas parking garage infiltrated their Twitter feeds.
The Dallas Police Department was luckily able to put out this fire before it picked up too much traction, as they claimed there was no such shooting. Cooper himself finally spoke about the rumors on Twitter, calling the whole thing "fake news," and saying that things were "good over here."

Not only did the Dallas police say that they didn't find any validity in the claim that Cooper, in line for a humungous contract as a free agent after piling up 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns last season, was shot, but they didn't have reports of any shooting occurring in Dallas at all.
In other words, this rumor was based entirely in fiction.
There has been a tweet going viral that Amari Cooper has been shot in the Dallas area. We have NOT found any validity to that tweet occurring in the city of #Dallas. At this time, there has been NO shooting incident occurring in the city of Dallas. @ChiefHallDPD

Everyone can rest easy knowing that Cooper is doing alright. This was a textbook case of how anything, true or not, can manage to gain traction on social media and cause some alarms to go off.
