Andrew Benintendi Told Angel Hernandez He Sucked Before Getting Ejected vs Rangers on Tuesday
By Karl Rasmussen
Both Alex Cora and Andrew Benintendi hit the locker room early on Tuesday night, as the pair were ejected from Boston's game against the Rangers.
Umpire Angel Hernandez issued the punishments, and Benintendi revealed postgame that he was surprised to have been ejected, though he certainly didn't deny having made some comments.
Benintendi admitted to screaming "You suck!" at umpire Angel Hernandez, but was caught off guard by the fact that the official had heard him.
Well, I suppose that is probably grounds for an ejection, as Benintendi ought to know better than to be mouthing off to an umpire, even if it is Hernandez.
Still, Benintendi doesn't seem to think his comments were grounds for an ejection, though Cora certainly got his word in with the officiating crew.
It was a rough day, all in all, as the Red Sox took a tough loss at home to the Rangers, fueled by an inside-the-park home run from Hunter Pence, which left Brock Holt laying on the wall.
With Beni back in the lineup on Wednesday, or so we assume, Boston and its star outfielder will look for a better day at the ballpark.
