Andrew McCutchen Posts Excellent Throwback Photo to Celebrate 2019 Draft
By Jerry Trotta
Baseball's freshest generation of potential future stars will be determined on Monday night at the 2019 MLB Draft, a moment that players like Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen will remember forever, but not for the reason you might think.
If it feels like the five-time All-Star has been in the league for a decade, well, it's because he has been. Cutch was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round (No.11 overall) of the 2005 Amateur Draft out of Fort Mead HS in Florida.
The beautiful irony is, however, that McCutchen, who made his MLB debut in June of 2009, looks just as old on his rookie card as he did in 2018, when, of course, he was routinely trimmed on the Yankees. The former National League MVP took to Twitter to poke fun at himself in celebration of Monday night's draft.
Perfect. Just perfect.
The best part about it all? The 32-year-old has been tearing the cover off the ball of late.
It's beautiful to see that McCutchen can still rake and boast the same, compelling personality that fans have grown to love despite representing four different ball clubs in as many seasons. He's simply a professionals professional.
